Classic 1958 Mercedes Benz 220S Cabriolet Dark Blue Over Tan

I am pleased to offer this gorgeous and rare 1958 Mercedes 220S Cabriolet. This 1958 Mercedes-Benz 220S cabriolet is one of 2,178 examples produced between 1956 and 1959 and is finished in dark blue over tan leather interior. I can only imagine how many of these are remaining and in such nice and presentable condition as this example.
Power comes from a 2.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes dual carburetors, a white convertible top, gorgeous wood interior trim, driving lights, whitewall tires and an aftermarket JVC stereo. The car was acquired by the seller in 2011 and serviced in July 2021 to include replacing the fuel pump and a carburetor. This W180 cabriolet is now offered in New Jersey with transferable New York registration in the seller’s name. VIN # is 180030Z8509581.
The Ponton-bodywork is finished in dark blue and features chrome bumpers with overriders, bright exterior trim, fender-mounted turn signals, and driving lights with yellow lenses. The white convertible top shows wear, and corrosion is present near the left side mirror. Close-up photos of additional paint blemishes are provided in the picture section.
Steel 13″ wheels feature covers with body-color accents and are mounted with 175/80 BFGoodrich Silvertown Radial whitewall tires. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel drum brakes.
The interior features seats upholstered in tan leather (might be called tobacco) with perforated inserts along with matching door panels and square-weave carpets with contrasting piping. Equipment includes beautiful wood dash and door trim, vent windows, aftermarket floor mats, and a JVC stereo located in the glovebox. The headliner is torn and there are areas of discoloration on the carpet.
An ivory-colored steering wheel sits ahead of a horizontal 180-km/h speedometer, gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level, and an analog clock. The five-digit odometer shows 88k kilometers (~54k miles), approximately 1k of which were added during current ownership. Total actual mileage is unknown.
The 2.2-liter inline-six is fed by dual Solex carburetors and was factory rated at 99 horsepower and 105 lb-ft of torque.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a column-shifted four-speed manual transmission. Be sure to review the many pictures in the pic section.
Included with purchase is a copy of the factory build record obtained from Mercedes-Benz Classic center, an owner’s manual, plus an album with various photos, vintage 220S advertisements, a vintage sales follow-up letter from Mercedes-Benz of Hollywood California, and additional 220S articles and information.

This is a gorgeous and rare vintage Mercedes 220S Cabriolet that would be a welcome addition to any Mercedes or German car collection. This is not a fully restored trailer queen. Car is located in Wall Township.
