See notes below outlining the car and specs:
INTRO: For the past 25 years, CRD has produced great classic roadsters. One of these is the 1967 Austin Healey 3000 Mark III.
FEATURES:
CRD has developed a spectacular replica of the Austin Healey 3000 Mk III (BJ8), (the last model produced Big Healey). Many consider this model to be the all-time best. We have taken the time to maintain all the critical and essential lines that makes it special: side body panel, window sill, curved glass windshield, gas fill cap, double turn signal in front, plus we added some new ones such as flared fenders, side vents, hood and trunk lid vein, and more features unique to this fine classic automobile.
CHASSIS:
The frame was made of 2×2, 2×4, 2×6 structural square tubing. Wall thickness is 0.120″ to 0.160″. The “ladder” style frame design is both simple and effective. Strength is estimated good for 1,000 HP. It is purposely overbuilt and is guaranteed not to flex or twist.
ENGINE:
Frame is set up for 1955-1992 small block Chevy V8. Needless to say it is by far the most dependable engine ever produced. We always use a brand new crate motor purchased directly from GM. It comes with warranty and in a large choice of horsepower. This particular car has a 330 horsepower engine.
TRANSMISSION:
A GM transmission was used in the CRD Austin Healey 3000, with our exclusive 4-speed manual ratchet shifter with NO CLUTCH PEDAL. This is by far our best seller. It is our exclusive shifter design with patent pending and it will be available with the business package.
BODY:
The composite fiberglass main body mold receives the body skin, all hand laid, using polyester resin and 1.5 oz. cloth, and 4 criss-crossed layers over a generous layer of black gel-coat. All the other parts were laid separately and then installed in the main mold using a steel locating jig that guaranteed consistency and strength. Everything was glassed together forming a tight unit-body with no chance of movement. The main body casting mold is mounted on adjustable rolling and rotating stands (rotisserie), which makes it easier to handle in order to get just the right angle for laying on the glass.
WIRING:
This area is one of the dividing factors between the good replicas and the not-so-good ones. We have an electrical assembly table where the harness is set up and completed for a trouble free installation. All components are new from a known GM manufacturer. All wires are labeled every 8 inches and all the connectors and terminals are proven GM 56. They work, they stay together and require no repairs. We also use OPTIMA gel batteries, because they don’t leak or corrode.
FINISH:
This roadster was painted in a beautiful metallic blue. The underside was sprayed with truck bed coating to give it a clean uniform look.
