The 2008 Ferrari F430 Challenge car was given to Artceleration TM to be used as a canvas by renowned artist Ben Levy to create a unique “One of a Kind” piece of Artwork for the Artceleration Event took place during Miami’s ART BASEL 2015.
The British artist Ben Levy’s creation of this Ferrari Art Car was one of three cars produced by three artists in a limited collection for the Collector and Enthusiast alike.
Levy’s creation featured a series of words such as “love,” “cash,” and “envy” spray painted repeatedly over the Ferrari. The words certainly captured the spirit of Art Basel. The car was wrapped prior to the artist painting the car. The wrap can be removed if the buyer no longer wants the artwork. The current owner recommends wrapping the car again with clear if the new buyer plans on using the car on the track to protect the artwork.
When Art Basel debuted in Miami Beach as a satellite of the Swiss art fair in 2002, it was a fairly humble event, with young artists showing their work in converted shipping containers. But South Florida has never done low-key very well, and Art Basel Miami Beach grew into an important stop on the global cultural circuit, along the lines of SXSW and Coachella. Celebrities, musicians, brands, rich guys, and yes, artists gather each December to check out some art, work on midwinter tans, and party.
Somewhere along the way, cars also became a part of Art Basel Miami. BMW sponsors the fair and has used the event as a platform to unveil new Art Cars. Some artists used automobiles as raw materials for sculptures, while others treat the car like a canvas to be painted upon. This year’s Art Basel Miami had a little of each, with fascinating results. Sometimes the car itself was remarkable, sometimes how the car was used stood out.
Either way, this is a great example of how the car was the star at Art Basel this year
Ben Levy is a north London based portrait/figurative artist. People are describing Bens work as pop art with a rebellious twist. He conveys everyday issues that have become fashionable through the press.
The general public love a story so Ben tries to capture political, racial, sexual and many other topics in a comic like scenario using famous faces well known throughout society. His work is extremely quirky and comical.
Asked about his work Ben explains, ‘I love the fact that as these faces keep on changing along with the stories so can the paintings. Each change, each new feature, a wrinkle or a blemish for example can be added at a later stage, it makes me feel as though the painting is never finished and I love that, it seems corrupt to sell artwork that isn’t finished and I think that says slot about the ideas behind my work. Corruption seems to be a very fashionable trait.
“Ben Levy is a rising star on the commercial art scene with his signature style of graffiti blended with drawing and collage. He takes popular, well known figures and turns them into provocative portraits with both serious and playful undertones.”
This 2008 Ferrari F430 Challenge has been well maintained, and still keeps the Carbon Ceramic brakes, which perform better and reduce unstrung weight. In many cases, these cars are converted to steel brakes in order to gain some economy in the operation, but the owner and driver of this car has not spared on costs to keep it competitive and in great shape.
This vehicle was fitted with an Aeromotion front bumper, splitter and rear wing. These enhancements dramatically increased the downforce and handling of the car, making it very competitive at the track. The suspension elements have been kept to factory Ferrari Challenge Series specifications, in order to accommodate entering in diverse racing events and fit the regulations.
Since 2010 the car has participated in no more than eight sprint races where it performed flawlessly. This 2008 Ferrari F430 Challenge performed extremely well and had podium finishes at Sebring with SVRA, Daytona with CCR and at the Miami 500 at Homestead Miami Speedway.
It is now know as the 2008 Ferrari Art Car.
The car has been very competitive and competed as part of several different racing series, including
– FARA,
– CCR,
– SCCA,
– SVRA,
– HSR and others.
Podium with this Ferrari for the following:
– Daytona International Speedway – Twice on the Podium with CCR
– Sebring International Raceway – 12 Hours of Sebring; Support Race with SVRA
