2002 Mad Max Chopper Built By Russell Mitchell of Exile Cycles

This bike is definitely not your dad’s Gold Wing or Harley. This is the worlds baddest chopper built by Russell Mitchell’s Exile Cycles. This Chopper has been featured in Easy Rider, Hot Bike, and the book “The Art of The Chopper”. It is known as the Mad Max Chop and it was built by THE Exile Cycles of Sun Valley, California. It is not a kit and it was not built by an amateur or another builder. In fact, the Mad Max Chop was the “shop” bike for Exile in 2000.
This beauty was ordered from Exile and professionally built by Exile Cycles. Today, the cheapest Exile built bike will set you back between $55,000-$60,000 and they are still only making the bikes that they want to build. Please note that their website still lists this bike at an outrageously low price. They will admit that they have not updated their website in years. Please contact Exile to confirm that their website pricing is very outdated.
Exile’s build philosophy is you take what they are building or you wait until they can build you what you want. No lime green choppers here. Exile has built this same bike for Chris Cornell of SoundGarden and Audioslave fame.
If it’s an Exile Mad Max you’re after and you don’t want to wait 6 months and your life savings to begin riding one of the baddest bikes on the planet, then you’ve come to the right place.
You’ve seen Russell Mitchell, creator of Exile, compete in The Great Biker Build-off #7 (vs. Eddie Trotta) on the Discovery Channel (see picture below). Due to Exile’s popularity nowadays, Exile is only building the bikes that they want to build and they are no longer building the Mad Max. The only way to obtain one is to build one yourself (or have it built) or find one on the secondary market. This bike is built and ready to ride.
Bike features S&S 113″ motor, Jimm’s 5 speed transmission, electric start and kick start, Zippers oil pump, wrinkle black powder coat finish, custom ceramic exhaust, no exposed cables (all through the frame), monoshock seat with pad for rear passenger, Exile brushed aluminum, Exile microswitch horn and brights.
This beauty is painted in a wrinkle black powder coat finish. It is super easy and quick to clean. No more spending a full day detailing the chrome on your Harley. With this bike, you’ll ride more and polish less.
Mileage is estimated at 1300 miles (no odometer). Bike comes with 3 MSO’s (one for engine, trans and frame). You are responsible for checking your local DMV rules for registering this bike.
Recent services include:
– oil changes
– new Zippers oil pump (replaced original oil pump)
– new heavy duty chain
– new oil drain plug added
Russell Mitchell has been featured in countless motorcycle magazines including American Iron, Hot Rod Bikes, IronWorks, Street Chopper and Easyriders (August 2001 issue, see pictures below).

Driving Impressions – The use of the monoshock seat greatly enhances the rideability. Even with the rigid frame, the bike drives like a Softail. Exhaust rumbles without a bone shaking roar. Bike cruises comfortably at 80-90 mph and beyond. This can be your daily ride if you choose. That’s how comfortable and reliable it is.
Interesting trades will be considered. Let me know what you’ve got.

Vehicle Condition – – I have not personally inspected or photographed this bike. I am relying on the pictures and descriptions provided by the seller. I can however tell that this bike is an exceptionally built bike with super low mileage. If you’d like to ride past the ocean of Harleys and get noticed, then the Exile is the way to go. If you’d like to live the Biker Build-off dream, then don’t let this Mad Max slip by.
I invite anyone to inspect this bike in Phoenix, Arizona and determine for yourself that this cycle is truly in beautiful condition. Seeing is really believing.
