1968 Porsche 912 Karmann Coupe Burgundy Red Fully & Beautifully Restored
I am pleased to offer this beautifully restored 1968 Porsche 912 Karmann Coupe. Car shows incredibly well in it’s original color of burgundy red with tan interior with burgundy piping. Original color of the interior was black (leatherette). It has been replaced with a very high quality tan leather interior. Mileage on the original chassis is approx. 37,000 and mileage currently is approx. 38,000. VIN # is 12801354 (see picture of certificate of authenticity).
Owner purchased the car in 2016 and it was in need of complete restoration. After approx. 2 years and nearly $84,000 later, the car is fully restored and gorgeous. Owner spent approx. $25,000 on parts, $9500 on paint, $33,000 for interior, $11,500 for engine rebuild and $5000 on trans rebuild. That’s approx. $84,000 not including the cost of the donor car. Also included is a full set of service invoices.
During the motor rebuild, the cylinders were bored out via a big bore kit from 1595 to 1725 producing slightly higher HP. During the repaint process, the car was taken down to bare metal, any issues were repaired including new floor pans and then repainted to the original burgundy red color. Gas tank is brand new. Vintage looking stereo is actually bluetooth capable. Electrical was completely gone thru – everything works. Owner added a rear sway bar as well as added adjustable rear trailing springs. Also added new dash wood with matching steering wheel redone. The list of rebuilds, upgrades is extensive and the car shows and drives beautifully. Now that it’s all done, the next owner will be able to drive it and enjoy it from day 1. The hard work is all done. Be sure to examine the pictures carefully as they tell a great story.
