1927 Zipper Motors Modified Roadster Hot Rod 350 Motor Automatic
I am pleased to offer this gorgeous Zipper Motors Hot Rod Roadster. Vin# is CA972221 and mileage is 10,862 +/-. This unique hot rod is a constant trophy winner whenever it is shown. Great build quality coupled with great components.
*Texas titled as “1929 Ford Roadster-Replica” (DOT made year typo) and plated as “Texas Street Rod”. Clear title. The master VIN number is based upon original California frame tag that still exists. In California, the car was previously exempt.
*All components fully inspected by Texas Vehicle Crime Prevention Task Force officers for any stolen or illegal components.
*Safety inspected by an ASE Master Technician and is fully compliant and legal in all regards according to Texas law.
*Rolling chassis by Zipper Motors of Utah. Personally constructed by builder/designer Darrell Zipp.
*Chassis powder coated prior to final assembly to match Viper Red body.
*Super Bell front end with friction shocks and half leaf suspension. 4-bar with reversed Corvair steering box. Chromed or polished front end from wheel to wheel.
*Wilwood front disc brakes, chromed rotor covers, braided stainless lines, anodized fittings, dual Wilwood master cylinders and brake pedal.
*Like the chassis, the body and many components were designed and fabricated by Darrell Zipp. He is a well-respected 40-year rod builder and former owner of Zippers Motors of Utah. The 1927 modified cab coupled with the 1933 style slanted front end is the perfect combo and shows Mr. Zipp’s genius. Two piece slanted, split windshield. Suicide doors with positive latching bearclaws.
*Custom polished aluminum radiator and overflow tank. Full aluminum shroud with high CFM electric fan. Fan control gets reading from temp gauge and can be set to come on at any temp desired via knob control.
*SBC 350 crate motor with upgraded internals. Mild street cam, lifters, pistons, aluminum heads. Edlebrock intake with Holley 650 4-barrell carb with Moon Eyes filter and valve covers. Custom exhaust. MSD ignition. Lokar dipsticks and throttle pedal. Chromed alternator, custom pulleys and mounts. Strong engine with no leaks. Estimate approx.. 400hp in a 1900lb car. Can be mild or wild (your choice). Exhaust tone healthy but not overly loud (until you punch it).
*700R4 auto transmission with overdrive. Later year production which addressed some weaker prior issues. Lokar shifter. Shifts smoothly through all gears. No leaks.
*Full compliment of Stewart Wagner classic white-faced gauges. Painless wiring system and fuse block. Proper relay for vintage style rear LED lights and turn signals. Quick release steering wheel. Simple and comfortable tan interior. Black carpeting. Aluminum battery box is located beneath passenger floor. Wiring throughout vehicle is carefully routed and shielded to conceal or clean up wherever possible. Billet oval center rear view mirror and two vintage style swan door mirrors (driver side only currently mounted…other is NIB).
*Many rear end custom components. Solid and strong. Friction shocks and full leaf suspension. Corvette-style axles and inboard Wilwood disc brakes. Winters quick change rear end comes with extra set of gears in original case. Fully chromed or polished rear end from wheel to wheel. 4-bar. Has custom drag style push bar. Two custom made 6-gallon aluminum fuels cells saddle-mounted with easy access rear filler spout.
*Billet license plate holder with LED and BRIGHT vintage styled LED taillights.
*Wheels by Vintage Wheels include center spinner option, stems etc. 5-slot. Goodrich radial rear 285/70/15 and Nexus radial front 165/80/15.
*Awards. Shown extensively during 2015 show car season. First place and/or Best of Show in EVERY event entered. First place Autorama, Houston (Altered Roadster Class) and prestigious “Best Engineered” award by International Show Car Association.
*Documentation. I have a folder with all the original build receipts with notes. They likely add up to approx. $65k plus with little labor costs included. I also have an appraisal which was done by a reputable company in California which agrees with this figure. Zipper Motors is still in operation although Mr. Zipp has retired.
*Other notes. Roadster comes with a powder coated convertible top bow assembly and a “moustache” frame that attaches to split windshield. It would be an easy (and not very expensive) matter to use these for a rag top. Pictures of rag tops on Zipper Motors are available online to see what this can look like. No one wanted to install rear body fasteners (including me) so it was never added. But it can be done tastefully if desired.
This is a well-designed, carefully constructed and well-sorted roadster touched by people who know what a real hot rod is about. This is not a cheaply built T-bucket. It has always been garaged on a carpeted floor and within a year, there are no stains of any kind on the carpet. It handles well, rides smooth, is comfortable, dependable, and always gets the attention it deserves. It has been shown with some of the finest cars you can find and it stands out because of its uniqueness. There is never anything like it and the closer you look, the more you appreciate the work. But few of them get to see it all. Like when you get that occasional urge to “light em up” and its hidden beauty starts to show.
Being sold only to fund a new project.
