This particular machine has undergone a year long, $20,000 full restoration by one of the nations leading restorers of these special machines (receipt for work is available to view upon request). Every nut, bolt, string, lever, pulley, bellows, pneumatic tubing etc. has been restored or replaced with new. The cabinet has been re-finished to better than new condition. This is likely the finest example of this rare machine on the planet. Also note that this is a fully functioning/working machine. It needs nothing except a true collector to enjoy displaying it. These are extremely rare and seldom become available to the public especially in this condition.
The keyboardless Seeburg Greyhound machine include a dog racing mechanism in the top part of the cabinet. When a patron deposits a coin, the tune starts. The animals spin around and come to rest, encouraging bystanders to gamble on which one will win. The losing bettor was a candidate to drop the next nickel into the piano or, more likely, to buy the next set of drinks. These were especially popular in Speakeasys during Prohibition times. Among fans of this type of machine, this is literally "the Holy Grail" of collecting. A very rare buying opportunity indeed.
The owner of this machine is a renowned collector who has decided to reduce his collection at this time.
