John Hersey Giclée Print 'Superglad'
John Hersey is dedicated to constant invention and exploration and intelligent concepting in illustration. He is known as one of the ‘founders’ of digital illustration, having made the second digital editorial illustration ever published, in 1983 for Macworld magazine. His career parallels the explosion of personal computing and the internet.
John has been a part of various gallery shows in the US and abroad. He was given a solo exhibition at the G8 Creation Gallery in the Ginza in 2006 which featured over 60 of his works organized by decades. He was part of a group Icons of Culture show at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in 2000.
John is a Canadian by birth but has been working as an professional artist in the San Francisco Bay Area. His work has been featured in American Illustration, 3x3 magazine, E’Tapes, Cover of Form, Print magazine, Communications Arts Magazine, and Portfolio magazine. His clients include the New York Times, Pentagram, Nickelodeon, Wired, Absolut Vodka, Time, Newsweek, IBM, Apple, Motorola, ABC News, Fortune, and many others. Through a collaboration with Bandai Corporation he designed a series of toy robots. He has made one children’s book, which was published in Japan in 2002, called ‘Binkobink’.
