1979 Lincoln Continental Mark V 1 Owner
Do you remember 1979?
- Three Mile nuclear accident
- Margaret Thatcher is elected British Prime Minister
- Soviet Union attacks Afghanistan
- Elvis Costello and The Attractions release "Armed Forces"
This 1979 Lincoln Continental 2 Dr. Coupe Mark V is like a time capsule back to 1979. This car was the height of style and prestige motoring in the late 70's.
This gorgeous car is a 1 owner vacation car. It was kept at the owner's summer home in Florida until a couple of weeks ago when it made it's way to Illinois.
With only 46,000 sunny Florida miles, it is practically brand new. VIN #9Y89S735136.
The car comes with all the paper work and the Protect-O-Plate as well as a copy of the original bill of sale.
Powered by a massive 6.6 Liter 400 Cubic inch V-8 engine, this car weighs in at about 4500 lbs. Luxury was the name of the game back then and according to the window sticker, this car came with the following options:
- Landau Roof
- Hand painted pin stripes
- Power passenger seat
- Speed control (cruise control)
- Miles till empty display
- Power vent windows
- Light Group
- Heated mirrors
- Tilt steering wheel
- Black Leather interior
- Intermittent wipers
- Traction lock
Original MSRP was $15,439.65 and the car was delivered on 03/09/79 in Illinois.
Only non-original items are the 2 piece wire wheels. These are chrome plated steel wheels with a wire wheel cover that mounts to the steel wheel. These are in decent shape. If you were to retrofit with the original color-keyed Turbine-Style Cast Aluminum Wheels, it would be perfect.
Vehicle Condition - I have not personally inspected or photographed this vehicle. I am relying on the pictures and descriptions provided by the seller. I can however tell that this car is an exceptional and highly collectable vehicle. I invite anyone to inspect this car in the Chicago , Il. area and determine for yourself that this car is truly in great condition. Seeing really is believing.
- Only known defect is two minor paint blister spots. One is located on the left, rear quarter panel where the vinyl top meets the painted surface at the corner of the moulding. The other is located at the Lincoln crest that covers the trunk lid lock cylinder. Both are minor but worth mentioning.
This vehicle is in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition. Everything works on this car. There are only minor paint chips to the finish which is not unusual for a vehicle of this age. There are no rips or significant wear to the interior whatsoever. A truly beautiful Lincoln with super low miles.
